The government has decided to implement Bangabandhu Novo Theater in eight departments of the country to educate students in science-minded education. Subsequently, the Ministry of Science and Technology embarked on the project of constructing “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre” in Rangpur after Rajshahi and Jessore.

The project will cost Rs 417.65 crore. The project will be implemented with full local funding from the state-run Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre, Dhaka. The project will be implemented between July 2021 and June 2024. Nouveau Theater will be implemented in Diipur and Janghari districts in Rangpur Sadar Upazila.

Earlier, on April 30, 2014, while visiting the Ministry of Science and Technology, she directed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take the initiative to expand Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theater in department cities. The project under consideration for the establishment of the Nouveau Modern Theater in Rangpur was taken to carry out his instructions.

Commenting on the project, Mosmad Nassima Begum, member of the Social and Economic Department, said that the project will play an important role in instilling interest in science and technology among the new generation and instilling scientific attitude towards space science among people. In this regard, the project is acceptable.

Project development According to the project proposal, the main activities of the project include the acquisition of 10 acres of land, land development, and the installation of planetarium equipment. Apart from that, buying cars, holding scientific and digital exhibitions, creating an automated system for tickets and stock. The project proposal also stated that if this project is implemented, it will be developed as a formal entertainment or science education center by creating opportunities for digital science fairs including space research opportunities in the cities of the northern departments. In addition, the general public, teachers and students will have access to knowledge, which will greatly contribute to the formation of a scientifically minded society and will create opportunities for formal education sciences, including the younger generation interested in science and technology.

When asked about the project, Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary Ziawil Hasan told NDC Kaler Kanth, “As per the Prime Minister’s directives, we will construct the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theater in the divisional city of Rangpur so that our next generation can be educated in rational education.” It will not only be a new theatre, but there will be a garden and an open environment. Where children play in the open, have fun. Indeed, when our next generation is educated in science-minded education through entertainment, we will have a better nation.
